Peller Estates is one of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s signature wineries, built around an underground barrel cellar, the 10Below Icewine Lounge, and a Winery Restaurant that has helped earn the estate both Canadian Winery of the Year and Ontario Winery of the Year. The family dining room seats up to sixteen at a single long harvest table. Worked into a wedding weekend — a rehearsal dinner at that table, a welcome gathering, a bachelorette tour through the ice lounge — it earns its place.
Peller does not host the wedding ceremony or reception itself. That is the winery’s own position, stated plainly on its group bookings page, which covers rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, bachelor and bachelorette tours, group tastings and gifting — useful to know if an older “best Niagara wedding venue” list suggested otherwise.
Niagara-on-the-Lake has plenty of venues nearby that host the ceremony and reception, and pairing one of them with an evening at Peller makes for a genuinely good wedding weekend.
What Peller does offer couples
Group bookings are available for parties of ten or more, and the winery’s experiences are unusual enough to be worth planning around.
The underground barrel cellar holds around 300 wine barrels and is used for tastings and dining.
The 10Below Icewine Lounge is an igloo-like room built from roughly 13,600 kilograms of ice and held at ten below zero — the temperature at which Icewine grapes are harvested. There is nothing else like it in Niagara, and it makes a memorable stop on a bachelor or bachelorette tour.
The Winery Restaurant at Peller Estates is the fine-dining room, under Executive Chef Jason Parsons, with the Terrace Wine Bar open in the warmer months for something more casual.
The Peller family dining room seats up to sixteen at a single long harvest table, with patio doors opening onto the estate vineyards. For a rehearsal dinner with immediate family, this is the standout option on the property.
Peller has been named Canadian Winery of the Year and Ontario Winery of the Year, and the wine and food programme is the reason to come.

Where to look instead
If the vineyard wedding is what you want, Niagara-on-the-Lake has several properties that do host the full day:
- The Hare Wine Co. — a stone courtyard, a barrel room and a vineyard lawn, with catering by the Prince of Wales Hotel. Suits guest lists up to around 130.
- Ravine Vineyard — the largest of the three, with a covered terrace and an event centre seating up to 250.
- Queenston Mile — smaller and less formal, with a barrel room lined in windows.
If it is the hotel weekend rather than the vineyard that appeals, the Old Town properties handle that instead: Queen’s Landing on the river, Pillar and Post with its gardens, and The Gate House for something smaller.
Planning notes
Check the date of anything you read. Venue policies change, and much of the wedding content about Peller online predates the current position. Confirm directly with the winery rather than relying on a directory listing — including this page.
A rehearsal dinner at Peller pairs naturally with a wedding elsewhere in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The winery is on John Street East, minutes from Old Town and from most of the wineries above, so building it into the weekend does not require anyone to travel far.
Reservations are strongly recommended for experiences and dining, and group bookings need arranging in advance.
Peller Estates is at 290 John Street East, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
