The Breakers Palm Beach

The Breakers is one of the most iconic wedding venues in the United States. Built in 1926 on Palm Beach’s oceanfront, the property spans 140 acres of Atlantic-facing grounds. The architecture is Italian Renaissance — arched loggias, gilded ceilings, frescoed interiors — and the scale of it is something that has to be experienced to be understood.

More than 80,000 square feet of event space accommodates celebrations from 50 to 750 or more guests, across ballrooms, outdoor lawn spaces, and intimate private rooms.

The ballrooms

The Circle Ballroom is among the most photographed interiors at The Breakers. The ceiling carries eight hand-painted oval frescoes depicting Renaissance landscapes, framed by ornate gilded moulding and lit by a Venetian crystal chandelier. It is a room where the architecture itself is the decoration.

The Venetian Ballroom offers floor-to-ceiling windows with direct Atlantic Ocean views, 25-foot ceilings, and a series of magnificent chandeliers. It accommodates up to 550 guests. The natural light through those windows is a defining quality of the space — shifting from cooler morning tones to warmer amber light as the afternoon deepens.

The Ponce de Leon Ballroom is the largest space on the property at 15,000 square feet, featuring nine crystal chandeliers and accommodating up to 500 seated guests.

The Mediterranean Ballroom offers more than 6,100 square feet modelled after the loggias of Italian villas, with 15-foot arched windows overlooking the Mediterranean Courtyard and Venetian-style chandeliers throughout.

The Gold Room is a replica of the Galleria Accademia in Venice, with a decorative gold ceiling featuring 260 hand-carved cherubs. It accommodates up to 250 guests for a ceremony or 85 for an intimate dinner.

Outdoor ceremony spaces

The Ocean Lawn is the primary outdoor ceremony space, facing the Atlantic directly and accommodating up to 750 guests. It is one of the most celebrated outdoor ceremony settings on the East Coast. Afternoon ceremonies here — particularly in the hour before sunset — catch the light coming low across the water, which is genuinely beautiful.

The Front Lawn is framed by tropical foliage and accommodates up to 300 guests, offering a more sheltered outdoor option on the property.

What makes The Breakers distinctive

The chandeliers in the ballrooms run warm — the interiors have a natural amber quality that comes from the architecture itself. The combination of frescoed ceilings, crystal chandeliers, and direct oceanfront access creates a setting that is difficult to find anywhere else in the country.

The property has been hosting significant celebrations for nearly a century. The Breakers’ events team works with couples across the full range of their spaces, from intimate gatherings in the Gold Room to large-scale receptions on the Ocean Lawn.

The Breakers is located at 1 South County Road, Palm Beach, Florida. Wedding inquiries can be directed to their events team through the property’s website.
